Programme Introduction:

Three competencies are critical to business managers engaged in innovation and entrepreneurship. They are: awareness of Intellectual Assets (IAs), having a clear understanding of various forms of IAs, and the ability to strategically utilize IAs to create value. Programme Director

Prof. Mukul Joshi is an Assistant Professor in the Strategy Area at the FORE School of Management, New Delhi. He has a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from IIT Kanpur, where he studied the context of innovative new venture creation. His research aims to develop insights into human-centric and creative problem-solving approaches and principles used by startups, innovative new ventures, entrepreneurs, and creative professionals. He has taught Design Thinking, Strategic Entrepreneurship, and Strategy Business Simulation courses. He has been a resource person for training and MDP programs for GAIL and Bayer. He has presented his research at reputed international conferences organized by Strategic Management Society (SMS) and Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Exchange (ACERE). He has been awarded Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Before his Ph.D., he was an associate consultant with Infosys Limited.

Dr. Uday Racherla is an innovation management consultant, currently residing in Teaneck, New Jersey, USA. During 2011-2017, Dr. Racherla worked as the Professor of Innovation and Intellectual Property Management at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. Shortly before this academic stint in India, Prof. Racherla taught briefly at the Carey School of Business, Johns Hopkins University, USA. Professor Racherla’s expertise in the areas of teaching and research include – Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Technology Management, Intellectual Property Management and Sustainability. Prior to this, Dr. Racherla worked in prestigious Fortune 500 Companies in USA for nearly two decades (1992-2011) and led multi-million-dollar R&D programs, holding many top executive leadership positions – Senior Director of R&D Innovation at PepsiCo, Worldwide Director of R&D at S. C. Johnson, Director of R&D at New Skin Enterprises, and other senior R&D executive positions at Unilever (North America). In the industry, Dr. Racherla has exceptional business expertise in strategic business innovation, worldwide product commercialization, intellectual property protection, and global intellectual asset management.

Dr. Racherla obtained his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University under a Nobel Laureate, post-doctoral research experience from the Ohio State University, and an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University - all in USA. Dr. Racherla published over 130 scientific research papers from academia and industry, in many prestigious journals such as Nature. In addition, Prof. Racherla graduated 2 PhDs and 5 MTech students, authored 5 book chapters, published 3 books, served as Visiting Professor at the Singapore Management University (SMU), conducted multiple executive training workshops, and delivered invited talks at many prestigious institutions worldwide. Recently, Dr. Racherla authored a book on “Intellectual Assets for Engineers and Scientists: Creation and Management” (CRC Press, 2019), and served as an editor for two other advanced reference books on innovation and intellectual property rights in India and China (Springer 2016, 2019).
