Programme Introduction:
This programme is about financial prudence-about knowing what the number really means in business. It is specially designed for the business executives who need to understand what is happening in their respective organizations from a financial and decision-making perspective. It provides the financial knowledge that functional managers require in running the business efficiently and effectively.

Programme Objectives:
•To provide an insight into the fundamentals of accounting and finance
•To facilitate the participants in grasping the finance jargon and understand the meaning and relevance, and its application in their day-to-day work.
•To enable the participants to have a thorough understanding and analysis of the important financial statements of a company, such as the profit and loss account, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
•To help participants in identifying the value implications of decision alternatives and help them in making decisions

Programme Content:
•Relevance of financial prudence for functional managers 
•Basic concepts of financial and management accounting
•Understanding basics of financial statements in general and through the latest annual report of a listed company in particular: Balance sheet basics, Income statement, and Cash flow statement basics 
•Financial ratio analysis
•Role of the company’s cash flows and profitability
•Fundamentals of capital budgeting, from a decision-making perspective (If time is available, then it will be covered).

Programme Methodology:
The course uses participative discussion, cases, and practical assignments to achieve the learning objective.  Participants are encouraged to share their experiences that they have faced within the finance domain.

Faculty Profile:
Prof. Gaurav Gupta: PhD, IIT Kharagpur; CFA, ICFAI University, Tripura.

Prof.  Gaurav Gupta is working as an associate professor in the finance and accounting area at FORE School of Management, New Delhi. He has completed his PhD in finance from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. He has worked as an Assistant Professor of Finance and Accounting at VIT, Vellore, for two years. He has received financial assistance from IIT Kharagpur to travel abroad to present research papers at the International Conference. He has qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) and was awarded a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from UGC. He is actively exploring the area of Finance and Accounting and has published research papers in national and international journals.
