Transition to teaching – First-Time Management Teachers

Programme Introduction:
Choosing a career in teaching is a defining life decision. As a teacher, one shape’s the minds of leaders of tomorrow. Teaching can be both a rewarding and stable career choice. However, it requires preparation on part of the teachers.
 
Programme Objectives:
The objectives of the program are to provide first-time management teachers with the inputs required for designing courses, taking classes, and associated academic activities. The session will provide an understanding of the nuances of transitioning to teaching. More specifically, the program will emphasize on developing a course outline, analyzing the case, class engagement, evaluation and feedback.  
 
Topics to be covered 
Day-1
•Designing the course outline and contents
•Preparing the session plan
•Deciding on pedagogy – delivery and use of delivery techniques.
•Use of IT tools (Scheduling the sessions in Microsoft Team, Cisco WebEx)
•Competencies required by teachers 
 
Day-2
•Class engagement techniques
•Use of IT in assessment and evaluation - Scheduling the quiz in Microsoft Team and Moodle
•Assessment and evaluation 1 – purpose, types and outcomes
•Assessment and evaluation 2 – Setting of question papers, and finalization of grades
•Art of giving feedback to students
 
Programme Methodology
Lectures through audio-visual presentations, structured exercises, Group discussions and Case studies
 
Target Organisations: The program is open to public/private academic institutes or universities. 
 
Target Participants: The target participants for the programme range from final year part-time/full-time PhD/FPM scholars, corporates, and budding faculty members. Newly joined faculty members may also benefit by joining the programDates & Duration of the Programme

Programme Director
Prof. Chiradip Bandyopadhyay
Dr. Chiradip Bandyopadhyay is a PhD in HR from IIT Kharagpur, a postgraduate in HR from XISS Ranchi, and a graduate in fibre technology from Calcutta University. Trained in managing technology and human resources, he has been a practicing HR manager in manufacturing as well as services sector firms. He has been with organizations such as the Aditya Birla Group, IBM, Jindal Stainless Ltd, IMRB and lastly as Head HR with Tata Metaliks Ltd. Exposure to diverse business and management contexts, enables him to weave experiences from practice into academic endeavors in terms of teaching and research. He has been associated with the International School of Business & Media Pune as an Associate Professor in OB/HRM prior to joining FSM. He has published papers in national as well as international journals. He teaches courses such as organizational behavior, organizational structure design and theory, human resource management, recruitment & selection, and competency-based HRM.
