She has 14 years of experience in research. Her research areas are Digital Innovation, Web Analytics, Social Media Analytics, and Social Listening. Several research papers have been published in national and international reputed journals, conferences, and books. The primary objective of her research is to use Digital technologies to serve society. She is also a peace activist and works for women in Rural India. She has completed over five research projects, one of which was funded by The British Academy, UK, with a research grant of £280,000. Currently, she is working on “Developing multimodal data-driven art-inspired bowel cancer-screening promotion messages”, a research grant of £87,118 from Cancer Research UK, in collaboration with Professors from University College London (UCL), UK, and Liverpool University, UK. She was awarded the ‘Best IT Professor’ National Education award by Headlines Today in 2012 and the ‘Outstanding Women in Science in Information Technology in 2018 by Venus International Foundation, Chennai, India. Her latest award is the "Karmaveer Chakra Award" in the Gold category for societal contribution in November 2023 by the International Confederation of NGOs (iCONGO) in partnership with the United Nations (UN).
