Arindam Banik

Arindam Banik, PhD in Economics is an Indian economist. He is ICCR's Chair of Indian Studies (Economics), appointed by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India at Samarkand State University, Uzbekistan. He earned his PhD at the Delhi School of Economics, the University of Delhi, 1994 and pursued post-doctoral research at Alliance Manchester Business School, Manchester University, United Kingdom. He was a distinguished professor and Associated Cement Companies Chair in International Finance and Business at the International Management Institute, New Delhi. He teaches Digital Economy, Development Economics and International Finance and International Business at the Samarkand State University. Taught Macroeconomics, International Finance and Business, Micro and Managerial Economics, Project Appraisal, Social Cost and Benefit Analysis, and Development Economics at the Department of Economics at the University of West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados (West Indies, period 2000-2005) and International Management Institute, New Delhi, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, India. He was also a visiting Professor at various universities, such as Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, IIM-Shillong, Tezpur Central University, Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, Chengdu, China, Centrum Graduate Business School, Pontificia Universidad Cato’lica del Peru and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and UERJ, Brazil. He was a Recipient of numerous awards and positions, including the prestigious Shastri Indo-Canada Collaborative Research Grant 2020-22, ICSSR Research Grant, SANEI Research Award (South Asia Network of Economic Institutions by World Bank and Global Development Network), Campus Research Award in two consecutive years (May 2002 and 2003), University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados and so on. He is among the founders of IMI Delhi, IMI Kolkata, and IMI Bhubaneswar. He was a Director of IMI Kolkata from 2014 to 2020. Worked as a consultant for various Government and multilateral agencies, including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, FICCI-New Delhi, International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Associated Cement Companies, Mumbai, UNIDO, ILO, Indo-Canadian Cooperation Unit, GTZ and Government of India (Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Ministry of Finance), Caribbean Development Bank, Government of Barbados. Author of more than 150 scientific articles on international economics and Business, International Finance, macroeconomics, Corporate Governance, and economic development. He wrote several books published by Palgrave Macmillan, Springer, and University Press Limited. Authored articles for various magazines and newspapers. Founding Editor of a reputed management journal, Global Business Review, published by Sage Publications, New Delhi.
